A Day for Family

Ken, Kolin and their children Jackson and Jenna took part in a beautiful ceremony at this wedding.  They each poured colored sand, chosen by themselves, into a glass heart to represent the inseparability of their new family.  It was a very moving and meaningful part of the celebration.

The Vest Family

There were still beautiful autumn leaves up at Moose Meadow Lodge in Duxbury where I photographed Ken and Kolin and their two beautiful children Jackson and Jenna.  They laughingly called themselves 'The Vest Family' and you can see why.  They are all natural models and photophiles.

We had a blast, got some gorgeous images and, guess what?  Ken and Kolin are getting married on Saturday.  I can't wait to see their home, meet their families and make many more beautiful memories for this Vermont family.

Emily

I met with Emily and her Mom yesterday for a distinctive senior portrait session.

She's interesting, dramatic, musical and has a polished style all her own.  She's interested in art and hopes to continue an artistic education after graduation.

It was rainy yesterday, but we got some lovely outdoor images in addition to our studio session, thanks to a porch roof.

The leaves are falling, though, so if you'd like to book a senior session for indoors or out, give me a call at 802-425-4242.

Nicholas ~ CVU 2013

I met with Nicholas on a gorgeous autumn day near his home.  We had almost perfect light, a little overcast like it has been all week.

There's something about that late afternoon light.  This image was taken near the beach, with just a bit of sun poking through the clouds.

Have you noticed how much more natural senior portraits are these days?  What a relief from the enforced formality of old style studio portraits, certain clothing allowed, etc.

Kids can really be themselves, and that's the way I like it.

If you haven't had your senior portrait taken yet, or hate the one you got at school, call now before the snow flies!  802-425-4242

I photographed Sam on a cool, early fall day with perfect light!  Not too sunny, a little breeze.  Sam was a great subject, relaxed with a world class smile.

Lisa ~ SBHS 2013

It was a beautiful day for senior portraits!  I met Lisa when she was a little girl and it's hard to believe she's about to graduate from high school.  She's charming and confident and I'm sure she'll succeed in whatever she decides to do next year.

Yearbook deadlines are looming, so call now to book your senior portrait session ~ 802-425-4242.  And check out Lisa's video clip below:

Kassia & Zack

I photographed Kassia and Zack's wedding last weekend at Zack's grandfather's beautiful home overlooking Lake Champlain in Essex, New York.

Friends and family gathered from all over the country - the bride and groom, in fact, live in Missoula, Montana!

They are hikers and very passionate environmentalists whose good humor and down to earth style made their wedding day fun and lovely for all.

The music and contra dancing was a special treat, too.

The day was gorgeous as you can see from the photographs in the video clip below:

Elise ~ SBHS 2013

You could say Elise has"star quality".  She was relaxed and confident in front of the camera, even with a few boaters watching our outdoor photo session.  It was cool and bright with a little breeze ~ a nearly perfect day with soft beautiful light.

Check out some of Elise's other images below.  If you know her, let me know whn you make your senior portrait appointment.  You'll get a free Facebook profile image and so will she!  Call now for summer appointments: 802-425-4242.

Jacob

I made this enhanced portrait of Jacob the other day.  It was interesting to chat with him and learn that his favorite subject in 9th grade is Civics.  He's very thoughtful and articulate, the kind of person we should hope continues to take an interest in making the world a better place throughout his life.

One of my all-time favorite portraits in one of Jacob at age 5, just entering kindergarten.  One of the greatest rewards of my job is being able to see children and families at so many stages in their lives.

Explorers

I made this portrait of Anthony and Lucy just for fun.  They are 7 and 4 and excited about pretty much everything.  Reading, numbers, science, games and movies, dancing, swimming, inside fun, outside fun..it's hard to pin them down.  Our magnifying glasses are always a favorite toy and I thought this "exploring" theme would portray them well, a metaphor for their lives right now.

All Together, Now

Al and Diane's family were all together for the first time since the birth of their youngest grandchild and arrived over Christmas week from Massachusetts, Wisconsin and California.  It seemed like a good time to have a fun family portrait!

Yes, I was a bit out of breath after photographing everybody separately and together, but the little ones were great and lasted just long enough.

About time!

When Stephanie and Tim arrived for their family portrait, they told me they'd never had one made of the whole family.  Eddie and Naomi were just great and we had a lot of laughs before the end of our session.

Like many of my clients, this family wanted to be portrayed as they actually are - not too dressy, casual and fun-loving.  They had an unusual prop with them and we decided to take a few shots just horsing around!
